Literature!surely you are familiar with that word,because we always coexist with literature both in the oral and written fields, everything is related to literature.
Let’s talk a little about literature.
Literature is an expression of human expression in the form of works or oral thoughts of thoughts, opinions, experiences, and feelings in imaginative forms, real reflections or original data wrapped in aesthetic packaging through language media.
A LITERATURE APPROACH
In the previous literary approach, two elements must be considered first, namely, intrinsic and extrinsic elements.
Intrinsic elements are elements that build literary works from within, such as themes, channeling lines, courtyard settings, characterizing figures, and mandates.
Extrinsic elements are elements that build literary works from outside. In other words, the extrinsic element is an auxiliary science such as philosophy, religion, politics, history.
THE FIELD OF LITERATURE SCIENCE
Literature in it has 3 fields of science, namely.
Literary theory is a branch of literature that studies literary theories, which include the background, terms, and concepts of research methods in literature.
History of Literature is a branch of literature that studies the periodicity of literature, from the beginning of the emergence of literature to the development of literature to date.
Literary criticism is a branch of literature that examines literary works, looks for the pros and cons of literary works, looks for the advantages and disadvantages of literary works, and gives an assessment of these literary works.
SOME LITERATURE FUNCTIONS
Entertainment Function (Reactive)
Literary works can entertain readers. Generating laughter in hilarious stories, providing intelligent entertainment through the content of new insights, arousing human sensitivity through stories of tragedy, inspiring someone’s story.
Educational Function (Enabled)
Educating is the very nature of work that is made with attention to its basic content and form. So that it can provide new information, knowledge, insight or wisdom that can be connected with life.
Function Beauty (Aesthetic)
Like poetry, his work can only provide the beauty or aesthetic value conveyed by the Author. So, the beauty or creative thought ideas can be enjoyed and inspire the viewer / reader.
This function can also train the reader’s creativity. Because they have an opportunity to provide their own interpretations and opinions of the various words compiled by the Author.
Social Functions
Literature can inspire readers to become more aware of social issues that are happening in the world. Through parables or reflections of reality, this paper can also criticize without taking judging, because it does not direct it directly to the party or individual concerned.
History Functions
Too often history has been ridden by the interests of the underdog of its time. So that history can be very non-objective and partial. Literature can be a silent witness as well as a commentator on events that occur around the author.
